On Saturday, Feb. 28 HKC will be hosting an early morningBreakfast Knit/Crochet at the Harlem Branch Library-9 West 124th Street and 5th Avenue
The meeting starts promptly at 10am and will end at 12pm. 
Please bring some breakfast food items to donate to the Snack table!
Please bring your knitting/crochet  materials.

The Harlem Knitting Circle Opens on Saturday, February 21st, 2009 @ The Harlem Branch Library on 5th Avenue!
HKC will open Saturday, Feb 21 from 10am until 1:30pm at the Harlem Branch Library on 5th Avenue and 124th St. Meet and mingle and with local knitters & crocheters! Have fun comparing patterns, sharing techniques and trading tips on stitches. All levels welcomed!

Looking for something inexpensive to do in Harlem on Valentine's Day?

Richard Caulfeild Goodman's RESISTANCE,
In celebration of Black History Month, Xoregos Performing Company presents a staged reading.

The play is about the Christiana riot of 1851 and the notorious Fugitive Slave Act.  Directed by Shela Xoregos, the actors are Denise Lock, Lawrence Merritt, Jesse Kearney, Cecilia Foreman, Brian Coffey, Gabriela Trigo-McIntyre, Stephen Wright and Andrew R. Cooksey. 

The play will be presented on February 14 at 3:00 PM at the 125 Street Library near Third Avenue, Manhattan.

Maybe it is Valentine's Day, maybe it's the desire to be warm and cozy, maybe it's part of the winter ritual, but, suddenly, tea seems to be all the rage. 

With that in mind, we are thrilled to announce a special event here at Knitty City:  Xenobia Bailey and the Art of Tea.  When we heard that one of our all-time favorite fiber artists was also involved with importing African tea, we knew we just had to have her to tea and invite some friends.  So, on Friday, February 13th, 6-8 PM, Knitty City is holding an after-hours tea and artist presentation at the store.  We're limiting the number of attendees to 25, so be sure to sign up now and insure yourself of a seat. There will be a charge of $25.00 to help defray costs, but we promise you a unique moment in time.  Xenobia will be presenting her work along with her teas and we think her exploration of the creative will be as fascinating as her work. You must bring your own materials: Beginning Crocheters get crochet hook size H, I, or J and any yarn and beginning Knitters get needles size 10 or 11 and yarn called "Homespun" or yarn made by RedHeart and called "Light & Lofty".
