What: Knitting & Crocheting in Harlem Heights!

When:  Saturday, January 31st, 2009

 

Time: 11:00 am until 3pm

Where: The Hamilton Grange Library-503 West 145th St. (btw. Amsterdam Ave. & Broadway)

 

Travel Directions: Closest to the #1 Train(no hill), M100, M101, Bx 19(these buses stop on the closest corner), M4, & M5 busses(these busses stop down the block on Broadway), or two blocks from the A train(walk up two blocks to library).

Meetup Description: The Harlem Knitting Circle will be will be holding "Open Knitting & Crocheting" at the Hamilton Grange Library-503 West 145th Street, New York, NY 10031-5101.

My colleague, "Sister in Fabric Art", and dear friend, Ms. Regina Hood, is in Harlem Hospital.

She had a stroke 3 weeks ago and, for the time being, cannot hear or walk!

My heart is breaking!

Regina is a wonderful person with a beautiful spirit!  She is always welcoming and ready to support or teach!

She is a professional dancer that donates her time to teach.

She has taught and shared all she knows about knitting and crocheting with openness and love of the craft and community!

Regina has participated in every "Act of Kindness" charity knit/crochet project that we have done.

When 1 shawl was requested to send to the New Orleans Women's Shelter she made three and they were exquisite, she made blankets and shawls for Harlem Hospital Cancer unit, blankets for Hale House, etc..., and every other "Act Of Kindness" that HKC did!

She is the first to bound to the front of the line when I ask for a teacher during our meeting time! 

She wasn't feeling well, but she came and donated her time, when asked at the last minute, to show Mothers and their children who live in the shelter, how to knit/crochet!

She did so with her usual loving smile and grace!  I had one Mother tell me she didn't want the program to end that evening and that Regina was great to her and her daughter! 

Now I'm asking for "Acts of Kindness" for the beautiful and deserving Ms. Regina Hood:
